Production of Kutani ware began in Ishikawa Prefecture from the Edo period (17th century).
The colorful and vivid colors are unique among Japanese painting techniques, and have become popular overseas.
The stone pavement pattern (Ishi-Datami) is the oldest geometric pattern in Kutani ware, and the representative 5 colors of Kutani ware: red, yellow, green, purple, and navy blue makes this plate like a gem.
